Important Note: Per Skydio's X10 specifications, the maximum recommended payload is 350g.
In controlled testing however, the X10, (using the TacMount PDK) has been tested with payloads exceeding the manufacturers recommended payload specifications nearing 1kg.
- FHT Opinion: Skydio’s specifications are intentionally conservative to allow for a small operational buffer. It is the Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC)’s responsibility to assess and ensure safe flight with any payload. We make no guarantees regarding maximum payload capacity in emergency or non-standard conditions.
Important Operational Notes:
- The TacMount “Bottom” bracket may remain attached to the aircraft to allow for rapid payload installation, if desired. When attached and no payload is mounted, Obstacle Avoidance (OA) functionality remains unaffected.
- The Bottom bracket fits securely in the Skydio Ready Case while still attached to the aircraft.
- When operating the X10 with any payload mounted using the TacMount, Obstacle Avoidance (OA) MUST be disabled. This can be accomplished by assigning OA disablement to the C1, C2, or C3 custom button mapping on the X10 Controller. (See "Rapid ResTube Deployment" video above).
- Landing gear extensions are required when mounting a payload beneath the fuselage.
- Obstacle Avoidance (OA) MUST be disabled when using the “Top” bracket
